Week: Aug. 30th- Sept. 3

6-3 Social Studies


This week we will begin our unit on "Ancient Egypt", we will learn about their traditions, religion, daily lives, and important people. We will be working on vocabulary and important facts about this amazing culture.

8th Grade Social Studies

This week we will be working on our geography project "Create Your Own Country". All materials need to be brought to class on Monday Aug. 30th. Remember this project is done at school and not at home, your daily work will be graded using the rubric I gave you. This project is due Sept. 7th.

Social Studies test

6-3 Social Studies: Test will be on fridat Aug. 27th. Study geography vocabulary, locating places on a map using latitude and longitude, directions using the compass rose, and the five themes of geography.

8th Grade: 8-3 will have the test on Thursday, Aug. 26th and 8-1, 8-2, and 8-4 will have the test on Friday, Aug 27th.

You need to study Lesson 1 through lesson 7 in the Geography Packet. Five themes of geography. using the map scale, using the compass rose, locating places on a map using latitude and longitude, locating continents and oceans, and "Terms to Know" corresponding to these lessons.

Week: Aug.16-20


6-3 Grade Social Studies
This week we will continue with our Geography unit and review the vocabulary. We will be locating places on a map using latitude and longitude and the "Five Themes of Geography". Remember the acronym: (MR. HELP)

8th Grade Social Studies
This week we will be working on the "Geography Packet". Direction and Distance, using the compass rose, using the Map Scale, absolute and relative location. Also look at the acronym for the "Five Themes of Geography".
We will go to the computer lab, so you can enroll in my "turnitin" class.

Week: Aug. 11-13




WELCOME BACK!!! I hope you had a great summer and plenty of rest. I am really excited to be your Social Studies teacher. We will start our school year by learning more about Geography and "Map Skills".
